1. Information We Collect

1.1 Anonymous Usage Data

We collect anonymous usage data through Amplitude Analytics and Facebook Analytics to improve the App:

• Feature usage: Which features you use (Bible reading, prayers, Prayer Helper)
• Interaction patterns: How you navigate the app
• Technical data: Device type, Android version, app version
• Performance data: Crash reports, load times, errors
• Approximate location: Country, region, and city derived from IP address (used for analytics only)
• Anonymous user ID: A randomly generated ID stored locally on your device

1.2 User-Created Content (Stored Locally Only)

The following data is stored only on your device and never sent to our servers:

• Bible bookmarks, highlights, and notes
• Reading progress and history
• Prayer streak data
• Prayer Helper generation requests and results
• App preferences and settings

1.3 What We DO NOT Collect

We do not collect:

• Your name, email, or phone number
• Precise GPS location (we only collect approximate location from IP address)
• Contacts or personal files
• Payment information (app is free)
• Biometric data
• Any personally identifiable information (PII)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use anonymous analytics data to:

• Improve the App: Understand which features are popular and which need improvement
• Fix bugs: Identify and resolve technical issues
• Optimize performance: Make the app faster and more reliable
• Develop new features: Build features users actually want
• Understand user behavior: See how people use the app to improve UX

We never use your data to:

• Target you with personalized ads
• Sell to third parties
• Track your personal identity
• Share with data brokers

3. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

3.1 Google Gemini API

Purpose: Prayer Helper (personalized prayer generation)

Data shared: Your prayer request text (processed in real-time, not stored)

3.2 Google AdMob

Purpose: Display advertisements to support free access

Data collected: Device identifiers, ad interaction data

Opt-out: You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads)

3.3 Amplitude Analytics

Purpose: Anonymous usage analytics

Data collected: Anonymous user ID, feature usage, device type, approximate location (from IP address)

3.4 Facebook Analytics

Purpose: Anonymous usage analytics and event tracking

Data collected: App events, feature usage, device information, approximate location

3.5 Google Firebase

Purpose: Crash reporting and performance monitoring

Data collected: Crash logs, device information

4. Android Permissions

The App requests the following permissions:

4.1 INTERNET

Purpose: Prayer Helper, ads, analytics

Required: Yes (for Prayer Helper features and ads)

4.2 SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW

Purpose: Display prayer overlay reminders at scheduled times

Required: Optional (you can disable prayer overlays)

4.3 POST_NOTIFICATIONS

Purpose: Quick access notification and prayer reminders

Required: Optional (Android 13+, you can deny this)

You can manage all permissions in your device Settings → Apps → Bible Launcher → Permissions.

5. Data Retention

Anonymous Analytics Data:

• Retained by Amplitude for up to 90 days
• Used only for aggregate analysis
• Automatically deleted after retention period

Local Device Data:

• Bookmarks, notes, highlights: Stored until you delete the app
• Prayer streak data: Stored until you delete the app
• Settings: Stored until you clear app data

Prayer Helper Requests:

• Sent to Google Gemini API in real-time
• Not stored by us (only cached temporarily in your device)
• Subject to Google's retention policies

6. Your Privacy Rights

You have the right to:

• Opt out of analytics: We can add a toggle in settings to disable Amplitude tracking
• Delete your data: Uninstall the app to remove all local data
• Control permissions: Manage notification and overlay permissions in device settings
• Opt out of personalized ads: Use Android's ad settings (Settings → Google → Ads)

Data Subject Access Requests

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures:

• Local storage: Your bookmarks, notes, and preferences stay on your device
• HTTPS encryption: All network requests use secure connections
• No cloud storage: We don't store your personal Bible study data on servers
• Anonymous IDs: User tracking uses random UUIDs, not personal identifiers

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

Bible Launcher is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you are under 13, please do not use the App or provide any information. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

9. Information Sharing

We do NOT sell, trade, or rent your data to third parties.

We may share anonymous data with:

• Amplitude: For anonymous usage analytics and approximate location
• Facebook Analytics: For anonymous event tracking
• Google (AdMob): For ad serving (they collect device IDs)
• Google (Firebase): For crash reporting
• Google (Gemini API): For Prayer Helper (your requests are processed but not stored by us)

Legal Disclosure: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and safety.

10. Google API Services

Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically:

• We use Google Gemini API only for Prayer Helper (personalized prayer generation)
• Your prayer requests are sent to Google's servers for processing
• We do not store or share your prayer requests beyond this API call
• Google may process this data according to their privacy policy

11. Cookies and Tracking

Bible Launcher does not use cookies. We use:

• SharedPreferences: Local storage for app settings (stays on your device)
• Amplitude SDK: Anonymous usage tracking (see section 3.3)
• AdMob SDK: Ad serving and tracking (managed by Google)

12. International Data Transfers

The App is operated from the United States. By using the App, you consent to the transfer and processing of data in the United States.

Our third-party services (Google, Amplitude) may process data in various countries. They maintain appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.

13. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights:

• Right to know what personal information is collected
• Right to delete personal information
• Right to opt-out of data sales (we don't sell data)
• Right to non-discrimination

For California residents: We have not sold personal information in the past 12 months and will not do so in the future.

14. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under GDPR:

• Right to access your personal data
• Right to rectification
• Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
• Right to restrict processing
• Right to data portability
• Right to object to processing

Since we collect minimal anonymous data, most of these rights are automatically satisfied (we don't have your personal data to access or delete).

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:

• Updating the "Last Updated" date
• Posting a notice in the App
• Sending an in-app notification

Your continued use of the App after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
